True Science & Our Obedience to Divine Revelation
The December 2025 article on the 100th anniversary of the “Scopes Monkey Trial” launched the current series of Family Heritage Developer articles on Science and the Bible.
Did you know that refusing to believe the revelations of True Science will result in God’s Wrath being revealed in you? Furthermore, did you know that God reveals His wrath in people by simply giving them over to the futile thinking of their willing ignorance, so that thinking themselves to be wise they become fools who worship a god of their own imagination instead of the God of all Revelation? This article looks at how the revelations of True Science call us to worship and obey God by faith because of those revelations.
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deut 29:29 ESV) All revelation from God demands our obedience in faith to give Him glory and thanks. True Science is as important of a part of God’s revelation as the Bible, demanding that we believe, worship, obey and call upon His name so that we might be saved.
The Bible is a book of revelation giving spiritual wisdom, it is not a science book. However, when the Bible speaks on science, it is true. But what is true? The essential reality of the revealed science is true in the context of the spiritual revelation in which it is presented.
The science that the Bible reveals is true but the details of the scientific process and the mechanisms of how that science works is not revealed. The Bible does not usually describe detailed processes, it intentionally leaves them for man’s curiosity to discover and obey their rule. Through scientific discovery, faith is cultivated because True Science shows the power of God, and it is the power of God that nurtures a faith that can receive the “secret,” “hidden” “mysteries” of God that can be clearly seen by the things that are made.
So in addition to Scripture, Science itself is a reliable form of Divine revelation. God speaks through creation. “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world.” (Psalms 19:1-4)
According to the Apostle Paul, the revelation of True Science is sufficient in clarity and demands that everyone in even the remotest places on earth obeys its gospel message, and calls on the name of the Lord to be saved. “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”” (Rom 10:13-14, 16-18)
True Science is a form of Divine revelation that we must obey! Paul was quoting Psalm 19, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. (Ps 19:1-4 ESV) Say what? The creation reveals knowledge about God and speaks in words and with a voice that is understood in the entire world, every single day and night, no matter how illiterate that people group is. So mankind is without excuse!
What does True Science reveal? The gospel. How do we obey True Science? Call on the name of the Lord! True Science demands faith-filled obedience that gives God glory and thanks so that we call on His Name to be saved. What can be understood through true science will cultivate genuine faith, revealing five invisible attributes about God: He Exists, He is Powerful, He is Eternal, He is God, One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. (Eph 4:6) and He is found by those who diligently seek Him. This is True Science. Much knowledge has been increased because of True Science. God has forged an intentional expectation of obedience to both the revelations of True Science and the Word of God. The visible evidence of True Science clearly shows the invisible nature and the supernatural existence of God Who made us and has absolute authority over us.
However, True Science is not for scoffers! Scoffers are driven to futile thinking by their sinful lusts to deny God’s existence and authority over their lives. The scoffers’ science is based on “willing ignorance” of God’s authority over His creation. Theirs is a “science so called” that demands that spiritual revelation be submitted to the same laws that govern true science –though they themselves do not submit to them.
However, the Creator’s intention is for True Science to lead us to a vibrant living faith in God. True Science cannot be silenced!
Wherever willing ignorance abounds, an artificial tension is created between the interpretations of observational science and the actual substance of Biblical revelation –science or otherwise. That tension creates a conundrum of mutual exclusion. Furthermore, this intellectual divide cannot be bridged through the proud reasonings of the wisdom of men. That divide is only crossed by the humility of authentic faith in God.
True Science develops hypotheses by experiments that can be replicated by others. On the other hand, spiritual truth is experientially received by faith in the power of God and the wisdom revealed by God, to those that love Him. So the tension is between the Power of God vs the wisdom of man because God has determined that He will not be revealed by human wisdom, but only by faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. …Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Heb 11:1, 3, 6)
The Bible uses the language of appearance when describing science. It describes what things look like to people on earth. Using the language of appearance does not codify the biblical terminology literally, it illustrates it. And when further information is obtained from authentic scientific observation, that new information will never change or contradict the intentions of the language of appearance found in Scripture.
Failure to understand this results in unlearned questions like the doubtful disputations of Charles Darwin vs the scientific experiments of Gregory Mendel. Both observed the variations in species. However, Darwin drew unfounded conclusions through his willing ignorance which failed to analyze data by the scientific method. Mendel, on the other hand used elaborate experiments and by that he created the foundations of modern genetics, discovering dominant and recessive genes and how they govern variations in a species.
Now to be sure, Darwin’s skepticism was kindled by false scientific interpretations in seminary defining biblical “Kinds”. His thesis on the variations in species was written to disprove the false dogmatism taught in seminary that species were the biblical “kinds,” and that species could not vary. Over-interpreting a biblical text isn’t truth. Dogmatic declarations about biblical terminology can cause the inerrant Word of God to look like error and contradict observable True Science. However, finding a contradiction of misinterpreted Scripture does not prove one’s “willing ignorance”! True Science requires replicable experiments to prove its hypotheses.
Darwin’s research was merely scoffing at misinterpretations, not producing testable science. His objective was to deny the Creator, and that made him fall prey to his own “willing ignorance” of prejudiced thinking which thwarted True Science. –True Science always leads its students to faith in God.
Gregory Mendel, on the other hand, opened the doors of modern genetics by carefully applying the rules of observational science, through which he discovered the genetic code. Mendel has done much to shine the light on the Creator’s immutable laws of True Science in the terminology of the Genesis 1, “Kind,” while discovering a deeper knowledge of True Science.
Here’s a quick look at the biblical science of “Kind”. In every case, the limited description is based the on the appearance of natural observation. However, none of the limited descriptions contradict the reality of the underlying science it points to. A “Kind” is an organism that can produce viable offspring.
Illustrations of the Scripture speaking on “Kind” in Genesis 1:
Kind: The Scripture accurately describes “Kind” as a specific group of created organisms that are capable of producing fertile offspring that can produce fertile offspring. Scientific Observation confirms that there is a barrier to breeding between different kinds of organisms.
Two experiments that show this breeding barrier of kinds are the breeding of a donkey with a horse which produces a mule that can only extremely rarely bear fertile offspring (End of Kind), and the Calico cat, which extremely rarely can produce a male. (End of Kind)
Experiments with the genetic code splicing the DNA for grasshopper legs at the position for wings on a fly produced… –fly wings! (End of Kind)
Here’s the general scientific description of Kinds in Genesis 1. Notice that each description is based on the ability to have viable offspring. The grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind
The tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind
The great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind
And every winged fowl after his kind
The beast of the earth after his kind
The cattle after their kind
And every thing that creeps upon the earth after his kind
Rules to remember:
The Bible freely uses the language of appearance; however, that does not necessarily imply a scientific fact has been established by our interpretation of the terms used.
Let the context frame the meaning of terminology, and don’t literalize the figurative metaphor or change a valid literal expression into a figurative metaphor.
Let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That you might be justified in thy sayings, and might overcome when thou art judged. (Romans 3:4)
The Book of Job contains a scientific challenge by God. God is essentially saying, “If you want to understand my treatment of you in your personal life, start with the observable world around you and discover the huge gap between your knowledge and Mine, then rest your case and trust me!” True Science leads to repentance and salvation. Are you up to God’s challenge? Do you believe?
Lord Willing, next time, we’ll explore the heavens and the firmament from the Bible and Science and worship God for His glory that is revealed through them both!
1. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. ... And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. (Rom 1:18-23, 28 ESV)
2. But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world." (Rom 10:16-18 ESV)
3. And God made the two great lights--the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night--and the stars. (Gen 1:16 ESV)
4. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Rom 1:20)
5. I came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. ... That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. ... we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (1Co 2:1, 5, 7))
6. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Heb 11:3)
7. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD. (Jer 29:11-14a ESV)
8. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Dan 12:4)
9. Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, ... For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (2Pe 3:3, 5-7)
10. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane [and] vain babbling, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace [be] with thee. Amen. (1Ti 6:20-21)
11. [They] say, “Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.” (2Pe 3:4)
12. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handy work. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. [There is] no speech nor language, [where] their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, (Psa 19:1-4) So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. (Rom 10:17-18)
13. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. …[For] the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. (1Co 1:21; 2:14)
14. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. ... But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. (1Co 2:5, 10)
15. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. (2Ti 2:23)
16. Know this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. …Some things [are] hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. (2Pe 3:1, 16)
17. Then Job answered the LORD and said: "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. ... I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes." (Job 42:1-3, 5-6 ESV)
