WCFS is much more than a homeschool Umbrella.
Since 1983, Wellspring Christian Family Schools has been an educational institution recognized in the state of Maryland. Organized as a bona-fide church operated educational institution, WCFS provides the academic and administrative structure to lawfully provide academic supervision and viable student transcripts for students who are taught at home, or in a nontraditional environment. WCFS is a ministry of Walkersville Christian Fellowship, Inc.
In 1985, WCFS’ innovative program became the model by which the Maryland Department of Education established supervision standards for homeschool students in Maryland. The unique aspect of the WCFS program is our combination of Biblical philosophy of parental roles in education with a nationally-recognized administrative system. WCFS transcripts are accepted by academic organizations such as the College Board and the NCAA, as well as the U.S. Armed Services and post-secondary institutions across the country.
Our mission is to help you treasure God's design for your family.
It is the mission of WCFS to inspire families and churches to treasure God’s design for the family and to provide resources to families and churches that promote educational communities for training faith-filled children.
Our mission is to help parents maximize their personal time with their children in their own home. (John 5:19b)
Our mission is to serve children as tutors and governors, with proper respect for their home. (Gal. 4:1-2)
Our mission to the church is to help build educational communities that support families and individuals utilizing home education as a primary foundation. (Deut. 6:7)
We value the local christian Church.
WCFS values the local church as a community designed by God to be a source of spiritual edification and nurture. WCFS requires meaningful church attendance for all enrolled families. We partner with local churches to assist them in building educational communities for the families in their congregations.
Our vision is for christ-centered educational communities.
We seek to help build educational communities composed of families and churches that have a vision for treasuring God’s design for the family in the ordinary functions of the home and church community.
Our Goal is Excellence in Education.
It is our goal to serve as educational assistants to parents and churches by providing customary administrative methods and quality academic credentials.
Families who register their students in the Review Program will satisfy the academic oversight required by Maryland law for homeschool families. Academic services do not extend beyond those that are required to fulfill oversight responsibilities.
In addition to satisfying Maryland homeschool law, families enrolled in the Academy receive full academic services for their students, including transcripts (both elementary and high school) and a recognized diploma upon completion of high school.
This program is specifically designed for families living outside of the local region or who are located internationally. Families enrolled in the Distance Program receive similar academic services to those in the Academy, including transcripts and diploma.
